The Altra Lone Peak 3.0 boot keeps your feet dry and protected in all conditions. Waterproof fabric is located in the upper to fight off water and release heat. An EVA midsole provides cushioning and comfort while the sticky rubber outsole offers exceptional grip and traction. Aggressive TrailClaw lugs help provide a full, unrestricted range of motion.
Waterproof properties located in the upper ensure your feet remain warm and dry, with optimal weather protection to help you tackle difficult trails and adverse conditions. Remaining protected enables you to move with confidence, even when the elements are seemingly against you. While the primary function is to keep the feet dry, the upper also boasts efficient moisture wicking by eradicating the build-up of excess sweat and moisture to leave you cool, dry and comfortable as you strive for the best results and performance. Polartec works in unison with the waterproof properties by keeping your feet warm thanks to a fleece-lined feel. The insulation sits comfortably against the skin and does not cause chafing. Furthermore, the upper is abrasion resistant to guard against friction and irritation as well as reduce discomfort or distraction.
A Flexible StoneGuard rests above the midsole to add further security by preventing debris and sharp rocks from digging into your feet. Susceptible areas such as your toes are also protected thanks to the toe-box. This stops rocks or harmful objects from landing on the toes and causing broken bones or injuries. Gaiter trap technology allows you to attach a gaiter to your footwear for additional anti-debris protection.
An ultra-light, EVA midsole with A-Bound provides plush cushioning to deliver comfort and focus to your performance as well as lessening the impact placed on your joints due to ongoing wear and tear. The cushioning also helps attenuate shock, especially on the unpredictable or difficult terrain. The A-Bound is situated on the top layer for durability and protection. Moderate cushioning delivers long-distance comfort whilst maintaining an efficient gait. The fully cushioned, zero drop platform keeps you comfortably hiking/running with proper form, even on fatigued legs.
The all-new, sticky rubber MaxTrac outsole compound provides incredible grip, traction and durability on varying terrain to ensure a firm, assured footing. A unique tread pattern strategically positions lugs beneath your metatarsals for incredible traction in steep climbs and descents. TrailClaw lugs are situated centrally on the outsole and combine different traction patterns for a versatile, high traction feel.
Altra started in the back room of a speciality running store in the Wasatch Mountains, United States of America. The store noticed they were getting runners from all over the country visiting and complaining of knee pain, shin splints and recurring foot pain. One person in particular noticed this, Golden Harper the founder of Altra. Golden studied running injuries in college and combining his knowledge of injuries and a video analysis at his store made it easy to see and more understandable that traditional running shoes promoted poor form and excessive impact.
This switched on the lightbulb in Golden Harper's head and made him want to help runners achieve their best without pain as well as run and live healthy, happy and naturally. Early concepts were made in a toaster oven and were created to try a new way to reduce the injuries of Altra's customers. The toaster oven served a purpose of melting outsoles off of traditional running shoes and then Golden removed the excess heel elevation. This helped Altra to start creating zero drop running shoes.
The zero drop was just one of the steps taken to return runners feet to their natural position, Altra built a distinctive footshape toe box specifically to help alleviate foot problems. It also enhanced stability and comfort while providing a more powerful push-off.
